So you’re trekking through the wilds of Nepal and you see a massive mountain in the distance. Your guide tells you that it’s name is Chomolungma or “Holy Mother” in Nepali, but you know it better as Mt Everest. It is the Forbidden Mountain, guarded by a mythical creature known as the Yeti.
Just kidding, you’re in Florida and it’s 9000 degrees and you can feel the sweat trickling down your butt crack. But you are looking at the tallest mountain in Florida. Really, it’s the tallest mountain in Florida at just under 200 feet. It’s a marvel of steel and mesh and artistry complete with an animatronic Yeti, who lovingly swats the cars as they go by.
We really love this ride. The theming is amazing. If I were to ever go to Nepal, I imagine it would look a lot like the village around the ride. There’s something about the prayer flags fluttering in the wind and the path crunching beneath your feet and the exotic smells in the air to make you really believe – for just a moment anyway, that you are not in Florida.
The queue is amazing, themed after a Yeti museum and a travel office. You see all the artifacts of supposed Yeti sightings as well as the mundane workings of a strangely unattended travel office.
The ride is very comfortable and thrilling and they move you through the line pretty quickly. However, both FastPass and Baby swap is in full effect here, so you can skip part of the wait if needed.
We love roller coasters and we love this one in particular. In my opinion, it’s the best Disney has to offer both in thrills and theming. What do you think?
